He identifies with the suffering of the oppressed. He feels their pain, their aloneness and their feeling of hopelessness.

Ecclesiastes 4:1

He who oppresses the poor reproaches his Maker, but he who is gracious to the needy honors Him.

Isaiah 1:17

He is committed to those that take up the cause of Justice and defend the oppressed. He will fight for them as well.

Blessed is he who has regard for the weak; the Lord delivers him in times of trouble.  The Lord will protect him and preserve his life; he will bless him in the land and not surrender him to the desire of his foes.  The Lord will sustain him on his sickbed and restore him from his bed of illness.

Daniel 4:27
Therefore, O King, be pleased to accept my advice; Renounce your sins by doing what is right, and your wickedness by being kind to the oppressed. It might be that your prosperity will continue.
